Los Shapis

About Los Shapis

Los Shapis were the most popular chicha group of the 1980s, a band that turned the Andean-migrant sound into a nationwide phenomenon. Led by Jaime Moreyra and singer Julio Simeón, they brought bright guitars and singalong choruses to hits like El Aguajal that celebrated provincial life. At their peak they were a genuine pop sensation, symbols of a new cholo cultural pride in Peru.
