About Leslie Cheung
Leslie Cheung built a parallel career as one of Hong Kong's most beloved Cantopop singers and one of Asia's most respected screen actors. He fronted the 1980s rivalry with Alan Tam that drove the Heavenly Kings era, then crossed into auteur cinema with Wong Kar-wai's Days of Being Wild and Happy Together. His ballads and concert spectacles set the template for HK pop stardom, and his death on 1 April 2003 turned an entire generation of fans into lifelong mourners.
