Kiff No Beat formed in Abidjan in 2010 and gave rap ivoire its first group with real national reach. Tu es dans pain, released in 2014, mixed nouchi street slang with coupé-décalé rhythm and pulled rap out of the margins of Ivorian radio. The line-up has shifted and members have released solo material, Didi B most successfully. The group still records, and its early run set the template younger Abidjan rappers work against.
