About Jano Band

Jano Band pioneered Ethio-rock, fusing hard-rock guitars and drums with the pentatonic melodies and vocal traditions of Ethiopian music. Formed in Addis Ababa in 2011 and assembled through auditions, the group brought a full-band energy back to a scene long dominated by solo singers and synths. Their debut album Ethiopia and anthems like Engida made them one of the most exciting live acts of the 2010s.
