Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, Yolngu singer from Galiwin'ku on Elcho Island, blind from birth. His 2008 self-titled debut sold over 500,000 copies and made Yolngu-Matha-language ballads a mainstream Australian success. Sting, Elton John, and Mark Knopfler all cited him as one of the great voices of his generation. He died in 2017 at 46.
