About Francis Bebey

Francis Bebey worked as a novelist, broadcaster, musicologist and musician, and treated all four as one job. His records set sanza and flute against early drum machines and synthesisers years before anyone called that combination African electronic music. Agatha is one of the clearest examples of how strange and warm those arrangements could be. Arcade Fire later built a song around a flute part lifted from his catalogue.
