About Dave Dobbyn

Dave Dobbyn is one of New Zealand's most cherished songwriters, with a career spanning five decades and three bands. He first broke through with Th' Dudes in the late 1970s, then led DD Smash before a long solo run. His Slice of Heaven, recorded with the reggae band Herbs for the film Footrot Flats, was a chart-topping classic, and Welcome Home became a modern anthem of hospitality and belonging. Few writers are woven so deeply into the Kiwi songbook.
