About Chucho Valdes

Son of legendary pianist Bebo Valdes, Chucho Valdes founded Irakere in 1973, the band that fused Afro-Cuban rhythm with hard-bop jazz and rock and opened a new chapter in Cuban music. As pianist and bandleader he has won eleven Grammys and Latin Grammys, taught generations of Cuban pianists, and remained one of the most prolific Cuban musicians on the international jazz circuit.
