Avril Lavigne broke through at seventeen from Napanee, Ontario with Complicated and Sk8er Boi, songs that defined teen pop-punk for the early 2000s. After a Lyme disease diagnosis sidelined her in the mid-2010s, she returned with Head Above Water in 2019 and a full pop-punk revival on Love Sux in 2022.
