Ace of Base were a Gothenburg group whose blend of reggae-tinged rhythms and ice-cool pop made their 1993 debut one of the best-selling albums of the decade. The Sign and All That She Wants topped charts around the world and defined a strand of early-90s Europop. Founded by three siblings and a friend, they paired sunny melodies with a distinctly Scandinavian sense of cool. Their commercial peak was brief but their singles remain inescapable staples of the era.
