Über T-Pop

Thailand's mainstream pop tradition, called phleng string by locals to distinguish it from the older luk thung canon. The form took off in the late 1980s under the GMM Grammy label, with Thongchai Bird McIntyre as its first and most enduring star. Tata Young carried it onto Asian and Bollywood charts in the 2000s; Bodyslam dragged it back toward arena rock. The 2020s revival under labels like What The Duck and 4Nologue now sells out Korean-style fan-club tours across Southeast Asia.
