Heavy Metal

Über Heavy Metal

Black Sabbath invented heavy metal in Birmingham in 1968, drawing from blues-rock and industrial noise to make something heavier, slower, and more occult than anyone had recorded before. Led Zeppelin built the stadium template, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal in the late 1970s produced Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, and the genre has been one of the UK's most internationally consumed exports ever since.
