Formed in 1968 from the wreckage of the Yardbirds, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham produced eight studio albums between 1969 and 1979 that defined heavy rock's reach and aesthetic. Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, and Kashmir remain three of the most-played songs in rock-radio history. The band dissolved after Bonham's death in 1980.
