Cameroonian Hip-Hop

Über Cameroonian Hip-Hop

Cameroonian hip-hop found its own footing in the early 2010s when Jovi began building beats from mboko street rhythms rather than borrowed American ones. Rappers work across pidgin, French, English and local languages, often within one verse. Stanley Enow pushed the style toward continental radio while the New Bell Music circle kept a rougher Douala sound.
