Wedy came out of the Lomé R&B scene of the early 2010s and built a following on melodic songs in Ewé and French. Cendrillon is the record most associated with him. He works in a soft vocal register closer to Ivorian and Congolese pop than to the harder dance-pop dominating Togolese radio at the time. Much of his catalogue circulated through local video channels rather than formal release.
