Toto Cutugno
1943–2023
Über Toto Cutugno
Toto Cutugno wrote some of the most singable melodies in the history of Italian pop. His 1983 anthem L'Italiano, with its proud refrain about spaghetti, espresso, and being a real Italian, became a worldwide singalong and one of the most recognized Italian songs ever recorded. A prolific Sanremo competitor who won in 1980, he also took Italy to victory at the 1990 Eurovision Song Contest with Insieme: 1992, a hymn to European unity.
