Über Rocío Jurado
Rocío Jurado, called La más grande, was one of the most powerful voices in Spanish copla and popular song. From Chipiona in Cádiz, she moved from traditional copla into sweeping pop ballads without ever losing her dramatic intensity. Songs like Como una ola and Se nos rompió el amor became national standards. Her death in 2006 prompted an outpouring of grief across Spain.
