Über Rocío Dúrcal

Rocío Dúrcal began as a teenage film star in 1960s Spain before becoming one of the great ballad singers of the Spanish-speaking world. Her embrace of Mexican ranchera earned her the title of la española más mexicana and enormous popularity across Latin America. Ballads like Amor eterno and La gata bajo la lluvia became standards covered by generations. Her death in 2006 was mourned on both sides of the Atlantic.
