Über Renato Carosone
Renato Carosone was the king of Neapolitan swing, a pianist and bandleader who fused American jazz and Latin rhythms with the songs of Naples. His 1956 hit Tu vuò fà l'americano, a witty satire of a young Neapolitan aping American style, became an international standard revived for new generations through films and countless covers. At the height of his fame in 1960 he abruptly retired, leaving behind a handful of perfect, irresistibly catchy songs.
