Über Maldita Vecindad y los Hijos del Quinto Patio

Maldita Vecindad, formed in Mexico City in 1985, built a Mexican rock idiom rooted in the city's working-class neighbourhoods. Their 1991 album El Circo fused ska, son jarocho, bolero, and punk into songs about pachucos, street vendors, and political violence, and became one of the foundational records of rock en español. Pachuco, Kumbala, and Don Palabras remain set staples 35 years later. Original lineup intact, the band still headlines festivals across Latin America and the United States.
