Malabo Strit Band
Über Malabo Strit Band
Band from Malabo recorded by the Spanish label Nubenegra, which spent the 1990s and 2000s documenting music from Equatorial Guinea and the wider Spanish-speaking African world. Bonola reached listeners through the compilation The Music of Nubenegra II in 2001, and the band's own album M. S. B. followed in 2003. Their sound is guitar-led and sung in Bubi and Spanish, closer to a street band than a studio project, which is what the name promises. The Nubenegra sessions remain the fullest recorded account of Malabo's guitar-band era.
