Über Lee Mi-ja

Lee Mi-ja debuted in 1959 and is regarded as the most influential trot singer in Korean music history, nicknamed the Queen of Elegy. Her 1964 hit Dongbaek Agassi was a defining record of its era, and she went on to release several hundred albums. In 2002 she became one of the first South Korean singers to perform in North Korea. Her voice carried Korean popular song through decades of upheaval and remains a benchmark for the genre.
