Kayahan was a singer-songwriter whose melodic ballads shaped Turkish pop from the 1980s through the 2000s. He wrote enduring songs for his own voice and for performers including Nilüfer, building a body of work centered on direct language and emotional clarity. Geceler won international recognition in 1986, while the album Yemin Ettim became a major commercial landmark.
