Über Juan de la Cruz Band

The Juan de la Cruz Band were the founding fathers of Pinoy rock, the group that fused blues rock with Tagalog lyrics in the early 1970s and declared a musical independence. Powered by the raw energy of the legendary Pepe Smith, their 1973 anthem Ang Himig Natin, this is our music, became a manifesto for a homegrown rock identity. Their heavy, defiant sound opened the door for every Filipino band that followed.
