Über Huun-Huur-Tu

Huun-Huur-Tu is a Tuvan throat-singing quartet formed in Kyzyl, the capital of the Republic of Tuva, in 1992. The group sings in the Tuvan khöömei, sygyt and kargyraa styles and accompanies itself on the igil, doshpuluur and other traditional Tuvan instruments. Its 1994 album The Orphan's Lament, released on Shanachie, introduced many listeners outside Central Asia to Tuvan overtone singing. The quartet has toured internationally for more than three decades and has recorded with the Kronos Quartet, Carmen Rizzo and Dhani Harrison.
