Über Grazhdanskaya Oborona
Grazhdanskaya Oborona was founded in Omsk in 1984 by Yegor Letov and became the defining band of Siberian punk. Letov recorded most of its early albums at home in what he called GrOb Studio, often playing every instrument himself, and the tapes spread hand to hand across the USSR. The 1988 album Vsyo idyot po planu was recorded in January of that year, and its title song became one of the most quoted songs of late Soviet rock. The band recorded and toured through the 1990s and 2000s. Letov died in Omsk in February 2008, and the band ended with him.
