Gibonni is Split's modern songwriting conscience, a former heavy metal frontman who reinvented himself as Croatia's premier pop-soul auteur in the 1990s. He wrote Cesarica for Oliver Dragojević before his own albums like Mirakul broke sales records and swept the Porin awards. His mix of Dalmatian melody, Mediterranean soul, and gravelly intimacy made him the defining Croatian singer-songwriter of his generation.
