Singer-songwriter who brought a quiet, guitar-led folk register to Iranian music, closer to Dylan or Cat Stevens than to the orchestral pop around him. Age Ye Rooz, from his 1977 debut Delmashghooliha, is one of the most covered Persian songs of its era. He left Iran after the revolution and spent his career between London and the United States. He died in 2024.
