Über Calypso Rose
Born in Tobago, and the first woman to win Trinidad's Road March, in 1977, which forced the competition to drop the title Calypso King for Calypso Monarch. She has written more than eight hundred songs across six decades. Far From Home, produced by Manu Chao in 2016, gave her a second international career in her late seventies and a Victoire de la Musique in France. She is the most honoured woman in calypso by a wide margin.
