Über Bitori

Bitori was a legendary funaná accordionist whose 1997 album Bitori Nha Bibinha became the defining document of the genre. Having built his own gaita as a young man and played the underground dances of Santiago for decades, he recorded the album with singer Chando Graciosa, and its later reissue by Analog Africa brought raw funaná to a global audience. He toured internationally into his eighties before his death in 2022.
