The Guess Who were the Winnipeg rock band that became the first Canadian act to top the US Billboard Hot 100, with American Woman in 1970. Burton Cummings' vocal and Randy Bachman's guitar built a string of hits including These Eyes and No Time before Bachman left in 1970 to form Bachman-Turner Overdrive. The Guess Who's catalogue defined Canadian rock before The Band's Music from Big Pink and remained in heavy rotation for fifty years.
