The Clash
About The Clash
Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, and Topper Headon turned punk from a stylistic stance into a full musical vocabulary. London Calling (1979) brought in reggae, rockabilly, jazz, and ska; Sandinista! (1980) extended the reach further. The Clash's three-year run from 1977 to 1980 is arguably the most ambitious decade of any punk-descended band.
