About Soledad Bravo

Soledad Bravo is one of the great voices of Latin American song. Born in Spain and raised in Venezuela, she rose in the 1960s and 1970s as a leading figure of nueva canción, singing protest songs, Sephardic ballads, boleros, and the folk music of her adopted country with a warm, resonant contralto. She moved easily between the joropo of the plains and the political song of a continent, becoming a beloved and enduring artist across the Spanish-speaking world.
