Soledad Bravo is one of the great voices of Latin American song. Born in Spain and raised in Venezuela, she rose in the 1960s and 1970s as a leading figure of nueva canción, singing protest songs, Sephardic ballads, boleros, and the folk music of her adopted country with a warm, resonant contralto.
