Known as Pancham Da, R.D. Burman revolutionized Bollywood music by blending rock, jazz, funk, and electronic elements with Indian melodies. Son of composer S.D. Burman, he created some of Hindi cinema's most experimental and enduring soundtracks. His work on Sholay, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, and Amar Prem defined the sound of 1970s India.
