About Giacomo Puccini

Giacomo Puccini was the last great master of Italian opera, a composer of soaring, heart-on-sleeve melodies that remain among the most beloved in the repertoire. His operas La Bohème, Tosca, and Madama Butterfly are staples of every major opera house, and the aria Nessun Dorma from his final, unfinished Turandot became a global phenomenon after Pavarotti sang it at the 1990 World Cup. His gift for melody and theatrical emotion made opera feel intimate and universal at once.
