About Pablo Milanes

Co-founder with Silvio Rodriguez of the nueva trova movement, Pablo Milanes brought to Cuban song a deep grounding in the bolero and feeling traditions and a tender, harmonically sophisticated style of his own. Songs like Yolanda became Latin American standards, and his later years were marked by both global touring and outspoken criticism of the Cuban government. He died in Madrid in November 2022.
