Molotov formed in Mexico City in 1995 and built a rap-rock idiom that took on US immigration policy, the PRI, racism, and class with profane fluency in Spanglish. Their 1997 debut ¿Dónde Jugarán las Niñas? was banned by major retailers and bought a million copies anyway. Frijolero in 2003 became the country's most-quoted song about the US border. They have toured almost continuously for three decades and remain one of the few rock en español bands of their era still pulling stadium crowds.
