Miroslav Škoro from Osijek made the tamburica a national instrument again. His 1992 anthem Ne dirajte mi ravnicu, written in wartime, distilled Slavonian homesickness into a song every Croatian knows by heart. Across three decades he modernized the string-band tradition with pop production while keeping its plains-and-vineyards soul, before detouring into politics in the 2020s.
