Sydney rock band formed in 1976 around Peter Garrett's politically charged frontmanship. Beds Are Burning (1987) put Aboriginal land rights on global radio; Diesel and Dust (1987) is the canonical Australian protest-rock album. Garrett became a Federal Minister for Environment in 2007-2013; the band reunited in 2017 and released two more albums before retiring in 2022.
