About Mercedes Sosa
Known as La Voz de América Latina, Mercedes Sosa was the defining voice of the Nuevo Cancionero movement and one of the most important singers in Latin American history. Forced into exile during the military dictatorship, she returned triumphantly in 1982. Her interpretations of folk and protest songs carried the conscience of a continent.
