Malpaís
About Malpaís
Malpaís was the folk-rock band brothers Fidel and Jaime Gamboa built with pianist Manuel Obregón in 2001, weaving Costa Rican folk, bolero, and Latin American songbook into a sound that became the country's defining rock-era voice. Fidel's death in 2011 marked the end of an era, but the band kept playing under Jaime's direction with new singers. Their songs about coastal towns, lost loves, and political weather still get sung back at every show.
