About Jovi

Jovi is the producer and rapper who gave Cameroonian hip-hop its own sound rather than a borrowed one. Working as Le Monstre and running New Bell Music, he built beats from mboko street rhythms and rapped over them in pidgin, French and Bamenda slang. Don 4 Kwat, released in 2011, is the record usually named as the starting point. He has produced much of the country's rap catalogue alongside his own releases.
