Jimi Hendrix redefined the electric guitar in just four years of fame. His feedback, wah, and controlled distortion on Are You Experienced and Electric Ladyland expanded what the instrument could do, and his Woodstock performance of the national anthem became a defining image of the 1960s. He died in London in 1970 at 27.
