About Iztok Mlakar

Iztok Mlakar is the Gorica actor and chansonnier who writes Slovenia's coastal songbook. His albums "Štorije in baldorije" and "Soca" turn Primorska dialect, Mediterranean melody, and theatre-grade storytelling into songs about wine, port towns, and the small absurdities of being Slovene. He spent his day job at the Nova Gorica theatre and his evenings on stage with an acoustic guitar, and the result is a chanson tradition with no real parallel in the country.
