Bahia-born axé superstar. Fronted Banda Eva through the 1990s before going solo in 1999 and immediately becoming the face of post-1990s Carnival pop. Has headlined Rock in Rio, Maracanã, and Madison Square Garden; 'Festa' (2001) remains her most recognisable singalong, and her annual Salvador Carnival trios draw crowds in the hundreds of thousands.
