IU, born Lee Ji-eun in 1993, is a singer-songwriter and actress who debuted in 2008 and writes and co-produces much of her own material. Often called the Nation's Little Sister, she became a defining solo voice of her generation. Her 2010 single Good Day, with its climactic three-octave run, remains a signature hit. Across albums like Palette and Lilac she has moved between ballads and pop while building a parallel career in television.
