About IAM

IAM is a hip-hop group from Marseille and one of the most respected acts in French rap history. Built around MCs Akhenaton and Shurik'n, the group drew on Mediterranean culture, Egyptian mythology, and street-level social commentary. Their 1997 album 'L'Ecole du Micro d'Argent' is widely regarded as the greatest French rap album ever made. IAM proved that French hip-hop could thrive outside of Paris while maintaining lyrical and conceptual depth.
