Erkin Koray was an early electric-guitar pioneer in Turkey and a formative figure in Anatolian psychedelic rock. He combined amplified rock sonics with makam-based melodies and traditional songs, creating recordings that sounded both local and radically modern. His 1970s work later became a touchstone for international reissue culture.
