About Camarón de la Isla

Camarón de la Isla is widely regarded as the greatest flamenco singer of the modern era. His raw, piercing voice and instinctive phrasing revolutionised cante jondo and inspired generations of singers. His 1979 album La Leyenda del Tiempo shocked purists by fusing flamenco with rock and jazz, and is now considered a landmark. His early death at 41 turned him into a mythic figure of Andalusian culture.
