About Bugge Wesseltoft

Bugge Wesseltoft is the Norwegian pianist and producer who founded nu-jazz, the fusion of acoustic jazz with electronica and club rhythms. His New Conception of Jazz project, launched in 1996, brought DJ culture and studio production into the jazz tradition and influenced a generation of European players. He founded the label Jazzland Recordings, which became the hub of the Norwegian electronic-jazz scene, and has collaborated widely with Sidsel Endresen, Henrik Schwarz, and the wider ECM-adjacent world.
